Bruise tattoo and strawberries

I have a bruise on my left forearm. It's lurid in color, and larger than a silver dollar. It's a painful bruise, and underneath it, there is a lump. I have no idea how I got this bruise, but out of the corner of my eye, as I was writing tonight, I could not help think I had gotten a new tattoo. How very Popeye of me.

When a recipe says that you need strawberries "hulled," that just means you cut out those stems, right? You don't then go to cut the strawberries into piece? It's not a difficult recipe I am following, but I'd hate to screw it up from the get go.

You don't just cut of the green stem, you have to pull out the internal, white bit that is sort of cone shaped. Sounds foul doesn't it. Old fashioned sugar tongs are the perfect implement for this. I brought my sterling silver sugar tongs over for Scotland for this very purpose, but then I'm a strawberry purist.

ya got me. all i know about strawberries is not to eat the green.

and that they taste DAMN good. my fave fruit ever.

this is a relief, because that is exactly what i did to the strawberries. only with a knife. i cut their little green tops out, in a cone shape. which sorta left a hollow center. i looked at that and thought to myself, if i was going to hull a berry, that's what i would call hulled.

in case you were curious, THIS is what i was making. something i got from Kay. And they are delicious.

i can't get sick off a large bowl of strawberries, can i? i hope not. it's like looking at strawberries after you've done shrooms or somethings.

i am such a fan of strawberries with sugar and balsamic vinegar. they're so tart. i am in the market for a strawberry pie this week. pie n burger, here i come.

I have never thought about balsamic vinegar with strawberries. Interesting...

Me, either, Jack. I think I may have to try this.......It's been awhile since I've had a good strawberry fix.

I'm so proud of you! And to think, I didn't even read the "hulled" part - I just slightly cored them and cut them in half - more syrupy goodness, I think.

Now go rent Against All Odds, ever since I saw it I wanted to do the Triple X Throwdown on some Mayan ruins.
