50 Word Fiction Fridays Vol. 27

Sorry for the delay in getting the 50 word fiction up, I was struggling for an idea. This week's theme is validation.

Parking Ticket
Mouth open, he stood outside her door, while his date threw his coat at him. His shoes hit him squarely on the chest, one after the other. The offending ticket still clutched in his palm, he wondered what the big deal was. All he asked was if she validated parking.

At night, he was never ignored or for want of companionship, but once dawn hit, the other members of the cult wanted nothing to do with him or even approach the "sinner". It was just one lousy cheesburger for chrissakes! But to the vegans, this was a valid day shun.

He left Cathy to be with…HER. He only wanted to play, not be a father.

SHE had called crying because he left her, too, and HER baby was due any day. The validation that Joe was an ass was of no comfort. Now there were two babies without a daddy.

Many bars. Many women. His search appeared to be for naught. One last dive, one last attempt. Damn the humiliation. A beautiful woman sits alone at the bar. He saunters up, gently touches her shoulder.

"Excuse me."
"Yes?"
"I am in search of validation. Can you help me?"
"Go to Hell!"

Validation To Go

The reunion was tomorrow and Bob was desperate. His former classmates were out saving entire worlds while the closest he'd gotten to heroic adventure was working the grill at AstroBurgerHut. Bob sighed, then pulled up to the Make-a-Fake drive-thru speaker. He ordered a Newspaper Clipping Glorifying Recent Adventure. Superhero sized.

All he was looking for was some validation of his incredible sense of humor and creativity. "All I need is a 'gold star' from Jodi, and I'll be fine. Really, I will." Yet the pun went unnoticed by Jodi or the others. "'Valid day shun' was pure genius!" he whined.
