Purple swirls and stripey chairs.
The Inn at Northrup Station is my new Official Staying in Portland Hotel. If I am to stay the night in Portland, from now on, it will be here. The bed is super comfy, every room has a kitchenette, it's located in my favorite little neighborhood in Portland... I don't know what that neighborhood is called, I call it 23rd, and it's decorated with bright colors in swirls and stripes. It's a wonderful place. I sat down on this bed a minute and a half ago, and I think I am still sinking in. I am in a Signature Suite and I could not be more delighted.* I have two tv's and three telephones. What do I need with three telephones? I don't know, but one of them is in the bathroom and to me, that is the ultimate in luxury. My paternal grandmother had a pink phone in her bathroom in their house in Denver, and I thought that was the richiest of rich. I am also enjoying my high speed wireless internet access.
Ok, back to work.
*actually, I could be more delighted. A: I am tired but still working on presentation and B: I'm a bit situationally exasperated with something, and put me a bit of a snit before dinner. i tried not to take it out on anyone. Oh, and C: I'm not very comfortable with what I am doing down here, the reason I am here. But other than that... completely delighted!

I guess you never know when the urge to talk will hit.

I stayed in a nice hotel at Picadilly Circus in London. It had phones in all the rooms of my suite; even in the loo. I'm not very good with phones, I don't really like them. I've never gotten the hang of cradling a phone under my chin/shoulder while I talk. I tried though. I really, really recommend that you don't use the phone in the bathroom at the Picadilly Meridien in London.

That does look like a fun place to stay. Too bad you are there for workin' purposes and not for the pleasurable kind. Well, have some fun :)

The area over there is just called "northwest portland". If you go further north about 10-20 blocks, you get into the very hip/yuppie Pearl District. It's almost just like Fremont or Ballard in Seattle. Yay for Portland! I hope your thingy down in Beaverton went by quickly!
