Ok, here's the Thanksgiving menu so far: apple pie, pumpkin pie, blueberry tart, and ice-cream roll. What am I missing? ...Cake! We need cake.
i have more than half of my word count left to write, and it is the last week of nanowrimo. am i insane? yes, i believe i am. for pete's sake, what was i thinking? i guess i was thinking i needed a little pressure.
today is the last day of ramadan, which means that soon, fee will be able to pig out!! like a hungry, vegetarian pig. and, in celebration, all non-muslim americans will pig out on thursday. in a show of religious tolerance. because that's what america's all about right? tolerance. sure. actually, i believe america, and thanksgiving, is all about turkey. for me, it's all about stuffing and pie. i'm in charge of the pies every year. and i think this is due to be one of my good years. every few years, i start to get cocky, and think i've got this pie baking shit down pat. and something bad happens to humble me. last year i decided to forgo the pecan pie, which i don't like anyway, for another family recipe my mom really likes. my grandma loretta's apple cake. it was a disaster!! i don't remember what the cake is supposed to be like... but my cake was mush, and tasted like... paste. the pumpkin pie was fine. but a few years before that, i forgot to put sugar in the pumpkin pie. it tasted like ... again... paste. this year, i'm sticking to the traditional pumpkin and pecan pies. nothing fancy or new. so i should be ok, knock on wood. like i said, i'm due for a year of successful baking, after last years horrific apple cake debacle. if someone wants something else, let them make it themselves. the best part about it is, i'm making one pie for the family and one for me. yummmm... i could live on pumpkin pie with whipped cream on top. [don't say it, fee. i know what you are thinking.]

"Barring an asteroid collision or an attack on our server by knife-wielding, forum-hating monkeys, the message boards will remain open in their current incarnation through January 15th, 2004."
When I read the above sentence in the nanowrimo newsletter it dawned on me. Certain monkeys are working overtime to be known so well.....
Good luck with the pies. I am making pies too, I cant eat them but I am stuck making them and everything else. At least I can have turkey...lol.

i'm EATING! ilike pumpkin pie filling. the crust is okay, but i really just like the filling. although, i suspect i wouldn't like sugar-free pumpkin pie. ew.
tomorrow will be a day of eating, too. we're all about the eating when it's not ramadan. well, i am. i guessi can't speak for all muslims. i'm willing to bet that a lot of them will be all about the eating for tomorrow at least.
say hi to the cherrios for me and then tell them to shut up because i needed a longer blog entry to keep me entertained as i stay late today for my one-day work week.
VACATION STARTS in about 5 minutes =)

poor poor fee. but at least you are eating!! hooray! it truly is a sad thing when a foodie fasts.
romy romy... i had TOTALLY forgotten about the title we gave to pecan pie. it really is a stupid pie, isn't it? i don't get, but some people really like it. so... i make it. it's fairly easy, if not gross.
sandy... what better way to procrastinate with the writing, than to attack the nanowrimo servers with knives. you know loon and i are all about the multifunctional little red knives.

i'm insane too. and i like it. i've got a little less than 20,000 words to write in five days. and one of those days is thanksgiving when i'll be busy doing turkey day stuff. AAAAAAAHHHHHH!

In honor of you, Jodi, and in the fact that I'll probably only finish Nano if I manage to write 16,000 words between eating turkey and watching movies all day tomorrow, I made a pie. No baking. Lots of agressive slamming. It was fun. It's a raspberry chocolate truffle pie.
Hey, if I can't finish Nano, I might as well smash the hell out of something and OD on chocolate.
