I got to get into this dude's pelt and crawl around for a few days. Who's the gopher's ally. His friends. The harmless squirrel and the friendly rabbit.

So... packing going slowly. And I broke one of my fabulous nails. The whole thing is very discouraging. I'd rather read. And so I did! :)

Did I tell you about Anglicon? I don't think I did. A couple of months ago, Louise came across this con. She thought she was particularly qualified to go, despite the fact it's not called Scotticon. There was a steam punk panel she wanted to attend. And there were actually a couple other panels that looked amusing. Something about bodice rippers I felt needed my attention. But that panel was cancelled. When it came time for the actual con, the only thing I wanted to see or do, was the panel from Studio Foglio, about their comic Girl Genius. And I wanted to get issue two. That panel was at 5pm on Saturday. But my uncle's memorial was Saturday at 2, down in Olympia. About 35 minutes away from the con. So I took Louise to her first trip to Denny's, can you believe it, and dropped her off on my way to the memorial. I was hoping to be back by about 5:30, but in reality it was 6:30 and I missed the only thing I really wanted to attend. And I had no new comic, to boot.

Which leaves me only Friday night and the Steam Punk panel to tell you about. The panel was interesting, there are all kinds of "punk." Cyber punk, splatter punk, steam punk... I think I am going to start jodipunk. It probably would have been even more interesting, had it not been for the older gentleman in the front row, left hand side. I'd say he was in his mid to late 50's, in a t-shirt that was too small - stretched tight over his gut, sweat pants that were too small and too short... and a fox tail, ears and nose. Oh, and some kind of flashing red collar. He had a bit of an under-bite, and it took me a while to realize that he sounded vaguely like Bill Murray in Caddyshack when he talked. Which he did. Frequently. If you asked a question, he would interrupt to answer, and his answers usually took about five minutes. Every new book, comic, game etc the panelist brought up, the wee little furry had an opinion on. He did that thing... you know... that thing where the answer or fact the panelist gave was never good enough. He was pedantic with his use of RPG, computer games, and all sorts of arcane info. The panelist, was far far far more patient than I would have been. Louise had her Perfectly Pleasant face on. She wanted to go up and talk to the panelist after, but she refused to do it while foxy was still around. And that, right there, a man in clothes too small for him, and a sad bit of furry costume, is pretty much my soul experience with anglicon. Which, now that I think about it, was pretty much enough for me. It wasn't even worth writing about right away. Although the panelist did let us look through his books and comics.... and there was a pretty cool Steam Punk Wonder Woman comic.
