On Thursday... it's a Holiday!

This is a shout out to all my fellow unemployed buddies out there.

Must have meat.

The hiatus was unintentional. I have reasons. Maybe we'll discuss them later. And I feel extremely rusty now. I think I will baby step back.

1. The old lady in front of me at the store today smelled of beans and franks. Also, I'm pretty sure there was a guy in bulk foods who had recently pooped his pants. I have the nose of a dog.

2. Does anyone have a really good lasagna recipe? I want to learn to make lasagna. Feel free to share. Must have meat.

3. I didn't mention this earlier, but Wil was laid off at the end of January. We knew it was coming. He's looking for a job. Please give him one if you have one free. Must be fun and pay lots of money.

Not just another Monday morning excuse.

As you may know, Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is called "Kraft Dinner" up here in Canada. When I was in the store yesterday, I saw they had a flavor we don't have in the states - sharp cheddar. I LOVE Kraft M&C... Wil, not so much. But he's indulging me and we are preparing dinner of M&C and caesar salad. How domestic. By "we" I mean "he" of course.

Friday night, my car broke down on I-5, in the middle of nowhere. In the pitch dark. Surrounded by wolves, I'm pretty sure. Probably because I just didn't get to spend enough money on the plumber earlier that week. Destiny thought I could use some more major expenses right before the holidays. Thank god for cell phones, although AAA could not find someone to come out to tow me, so the State Patrol sent someone out and I paid them out of my pocket. They towed my car to Mount Vernon, where the service station was already closed for the weekend. All the car rental places were closed for the evening. I had to stay the night at a Qaulity Inn. But they had wi-fi, which was, pretty much, the bright spot in my day.

I had to email in to work. I'm going to have to go to Mount Vernon and deal with my car. The spectacularly unhelpful whelp who was in charge of the station that evening seemed to think that there was no way they'd be able to fix my car in 2006. If not, I'll have to have it towed somewhere else. Everyone says, based on the symptoms, it's my alternator.

I tried and tried all weekend to find a way to make this tale more amusing. But the sad fact is, it's just annoying.

Oh well. My mac and cheese is ready! Bon Appetite!

it's been hard for me to blog the last few weeks, because I've had a secret. What was on my mind I could not blog about. Not until I spoke with certain people first, took certain steps. But, it's all good now, and so I can tell you.

I gave notice yesterday, at my POE. I'm leaving at the end of the month. End of the year, I suppose, as well. I'm moving to Canada. Ironic that I should do it now, and not in 2004, but since I'm not doing it for political reasons, I guess that doesn't matter. Obviously, I am going to be moving in with Wil. We are looking to get a place for February 1st. And really, I could not be happier.

Moving to Victoria is a lot more complicated than moving to, say, Portland or Los Angeles. It's a gigantic pain in the ass, to be honest. I'm doing the research, but from what I can tell, I'm going to have to inventory and price every single item I move over there. Every. Single. Item. Like I can remember how much my monkey socks cost! This is what I am going to spend January doing. Separating things into 1. Taking, 2. Storing and 3. Garage Sale. I've never had one, but I have some friends who might have a few things to sell, not worth an entire GS themselves, but combined I bet we'll have a good stash.

I can't work there, without a VISA. Luckily, I am in a situation where, if we are very careful and budgeted, I can take time off. I'm going to be... wait for it.... a HOUSEWIFE! Hahahahaha! Oh man, just thinking of it cracks me up. I don't know... what do you think I should do with my time? Improved blogging output, for one. In fact, I hope to do a lot more writing. Learn to cook, maybe? Kick off my shoes and get pregnant? Who knows.

So... what do you think? Be prepared for much discussion of immigration and the politics of introducing Your Cat to His Cat, and Him, and a New Home, all at once, over the next few weeks.

What is it about allergies? You can just be walking along, or in my case, sitting around watching "Veronica Mars" Season 1 DVD's., and then something comes along and punches you in the face. Itchy eyes, running nose, sneezing, congestion. Sucks. And, for me, allergy medicine is a different type of punch in the face right back. I took some over the counter stuff, but I did buy in Canada. Maybe it's stronger because of that? It's a generic version of a brand we have in the states. Anyway, I took that last night before I went to bed, and BAMF!! I was out and I slept for 12 hours. Like the dead. I woke up about 4 am in order to email in to work, because it was painfully obvious I was not to be operating even light machinery. Like my sonic care toothbrush. One of my morning rituals. And if you can't brush your teeth.... well, what good are you?

Dr. Stevil and the Ants

Yesterday, in the waning hours of the work day, I met Dr. Stevil in the hall as I was walking to the Little Girls Room. He had a small padded envelope in his hands and he waved it at me.

Jodi: are they here?!
Dr. Stevil: they are HERE!!
Jodi: don't do anything until I get back! Please!
Fav. Xboss H: [[I have more than one fav Xboss at my POE]] What? What does he have?
Jodi: ANTS!
Fav. Xboss H: What does he have? Ants?
Jodi: yeah! like bug ants.
Fav. Xboss H: Why does he have ants?
Jodi: Why not?

Truth is, this is why Dr. Stevil received ants in the mail.

The Discovery Ant Gel Habitat from the Discovery Channel store. We've been waiting weeks and weeks for those ants to arrive. We were starting to get worried because Dr. Stevil is leaving at noon today for a weeks vacation in San Francisco. KK and I had no interest in adding the ants to the Gel Habitat.

But I don't think it's my job, I think it's the litter box sitting behind me. I'll have to address that issue.

Other than that, I do have the web cam up. It's thrilling. Sometimes, I make faces!

A few months ago, I get my cousin, Kirsten, my season 1 and 2 Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVDs to watch. And she was instantly hooked. Now, I am sitting here, online, waiting for her to finish a season five episode called "The Body." If you are into Buffy, you know what I am going through, waiting for her to finish, so we can commiserate. That episode is a punch in the gut.

I'm working from home tomorrow, there is a possibility you can watch me while I work, if you are into that type of thing. I'm going to be researching and updating information in a spread sheet. Yes! Wait, there is more... I'm going to color code my results! Awwww... yeah!

I have a cough medicine hangover.

I am back at work, but I'm not all that happy about it. It's one thing to be feeling pretty good while you are lying around watching crappy tv. It's not quite the same when you are at work. I was gifted this disease by Paco, at least that's what Evildeb says. And she's done a great deal of internet research to prove it to him, so who am I to argue? He is still out. He was out all last week. So I think I got off pretty easy, all things considered.

Anyway, I have lots of email to catch up on, so I leave you with this, Clerks 2 trailer.
