wet.

There more than a few issues I have with my apartment. I wish it had an electrical outlet in the bathroom. (I’ve never had a bathroom with no electrical outlets.) I wish it had a dishwasher and a garbage disposal. (Haven’t been without those since my apartment in Ballard.)

But one of my favorite things about it is the building-wide water heater. In my mind, it’s behemoth. The entire building shares it. This means that we rarely run out of hot water. We can take showers as long as we want, and still have hot water. You can stand under a hot pounding stream of water for however long it takes to beat the sore outta your muscles. Or you can sit on floor of the shower and contemplate your life, with water cascades down on you like unusually warm rain.

If you want to know my mood the last couple of days, just go listen to Neko Case’s Blacklisted album.

Neko Case – Outro With Bees

In the meantime, let’s hover like bees.

  1. Rented a house in the old section of town when I moved once, and it had almost no outlets anywhere – built in the 20’s and “updated” over the years, but had to unplug one thing to plug in another constantly – that got old fast. I envy your hot water supply, as I’ve got limits here – unless I’m in a hotel, gotta watch how many use the shower B4 I do, or brrr. One lucky/unlucky day, tho, I needed to sit on the tub floor, like you, and zone out in the steam; it cleared my head, but didn’t change anything – lucky I was the only one home, and unlucky I was the only one home.

  2. Lucky! Not only do I not have my own water heater, my FUSE BOX is in my neighbours’ apartment. And we share at least one circuit… that they have at times plugged several space heaters and coffeemakers into. I was not thrilled to discover this when my computer powered off one day.

That’s a really frickin awesome album cover.
Bathrooms with no power outlets are a pain…but having to hand-wash dishes is sooooo much worse. 🙁
