Ok, first of all, how cool is that name? Thurl Ravenscroft? I am so going to name my next male sim Thurl Ravenscroft. Now, if you are worried, I’ll set your mind at ease right now. There is no Jim Carrey version of this song in this episode of Then and Now. Oh hell, no. There are actually quit a few covers of this song, but I narrowed it down to two that I thought were fun. Or different. This next version is one I’ve been hearing on a local radio station for a few years now. I think it’s cool, hip and jazzy. Tell me what you think.

Thurl Ravenscroft was for many years the voice of “evil” in Disney cartoons. He is also the voice in many of the rides at Disneyland, and was a singer in babershop quartets.
Maybe he’s a friend of EvilDeb???
That is AWESOME. I wonder if he is the voice in the Haunted Mansion. It’s quite possible he is a friend to Evildeb, she has barbershop connections.
i think i forgot to mention i like the deanna kirk version. not completely sold on the background singers though.
oh, he is definitely ‘the voice’ from the haunted mansion and also the pirates of the carribean. i always get goosebumps hearing his voice on those rides. he also did tony the tiger and sang disney’s zorro and davy crockett themes with his group.
i have always LOVED his voice. i guess he died this year, which is very sad.
