This week’s Then and Now is dedicated to Mr. Moon, who’s birthday was on Thursday. When I once proposed this cover combination, he shuddered and declared the cover artist “evil.” So I can’t resist. Besides many people have secretly confessed that if they were Rock and Roll Gods or Goddesses, they would be tempted to cover this song.
I Love Rock and Roll – Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
I don’t think Brittany really loves rock and roll. I don’t think you can love rock and roll and still use beats from a drum machine on a song about it. It’s very … inorganic.

Eeeeeeek! Run away!
i love this song! (the joan jett version of course)
The only way I could finish listening to the Brittany version is if I was watching her video (mute on of course). Now Joan, my sweet sweet Joan. She can rock me all night long.
That’s just plain wrong… there should be laws against this kind of stuff.. you shouldn’t have to worry about people being exposed to the horror of Brittany covering a rock song…and completly butchering it…
I second Marie’s response to the Brittany version. 🙂
that brittany cover is the song they play in the elevators of hell.
that, and her cover of My Prerogative. (i so love the original version of that song 🙂
i like the ‘i love r&r’ song, but i can’t help singing the weird al version everytime i hear it. so if i were a rock goddess i’d rather belt out a different rock goddess song.
Oh my god! This is just WRONG! No, No Brittney! NO, NO!!!
Ugh. Now that I’ve heard it, I can never un-hear it.
