I was thinking..., music

I was thinking…

if they turned me inside out, would they be able to see all my dirty little secrets?

I have one for you… I love the soundtrack to Xanadu. I play it in the car, and sing along…. especially to any song with Olivia Newton John. I’m not proud, but I’m not exactly ashamed either. Plus, ELO kicks ass!

Confession is good for the soul, what’s your dirty little secret?

Picture day.

Evildeb says that AlmostCertainlyGoingToEndUpEvilMaggie won this outfit for Mimi, the Evildog, in some kind of Spin the Wheel contest. I think Mimi looks a little ashamed. And Maggie looks a little pleased about that.

Oh, listen to Mary Poppins. He’s got his crust all stiff and upper with that nancy boy accent. You Englishmen are always so… bloody hell!

Oh kids, the most amazing and wondrous thing happened on Saturday. It was a day in which I won, and Louise lost. We went down to the Seattle Mystery Bookshop to have books signed by Robert Crais, who writes a favorite mystery/crime series of mine. And you know what? He didn’t notice her accent! He didn’t comment or gush or propose or even acknowledge it. The words “darling” and “accent” did not leave his mouth. And, even though he is a handsome handsome man, as it is now, and a fav writer of mine, already, I love him all the more now. For breaking her streak. Seriously, she was getting a little cocky. A little humility looks good on her. And the day was not a complete waste. Some, seemingly, homeless men told her she had beautiful hair as we walked by. I almost said thank you. One of the few physical compliments I get in life is on my hair, occasionally my smile or my eyes, but usually my hair. And it was down and curling nicely that day. But it’s a pretty safe bet that if a bunch of guys in an alley yell out a compliment like “you have beautiful hair” and you are walking by with Louise, it’s for her. She has long wavy dark blond hair that goes down past her butt. The bitch. Instead, I just told her to thank them. Which she did. In her darling accent.

Purple swirls and stripey chairs.

The Inn at Northrup Station is my new Official Staying in Portland Hotel. If I am to stay the night in Portland, from now on, it will be here. The bed is super comfy, every room has a kitchenette, it’s located in my favorite little neighborhood in Portland… I don’t know what that neighborhood is called, I call it 23rd, and it’s decorated with bright colors in swirls and stripes. It’s a wonderful place. I sat down on this bed a minute and a half ago, and I think I am still sinking in. I am in a Signature Suite and I could not be more delighted.* I have two tv’s and three telephones. What do I need with three telephones? I don’t know, but one of them is in the bathroom and to me, that is the ultimate in luxury. My paternal grandmother had a pink phone in her bathroom in their house in Denver, and I thought that was the richiest of rich. I am also enjoying my high speed wireless internet access.

Ok, back to work.

*actually, I could be more delighted. A: I am tired but still working on presentation and B: I’m a bit situationally exasperated with something, and put me a bit of a snit before dinner. i tried not to take it out on anyone. Oh, and C: I’m not very comfortable with what I am doing down here, the reason I am here. But other than that… completely delighted!

I’m kinda stressed out.

I’m worried about throwing the ultimate Oscar party. It can’t just be a good party, it has to be the ultimate Oscar party.

Wait a second, that’s not me… that’s the E! Channel demographic. Why am I watching this channel. Because I am working on a training project, and the E! channel is keeping me company. It does not require my actual brains to listen to it.

I will be in Portland Oregon tomorrow and Friday, to deliver said training project. 50 Word Fiction Friday will return on Friday [duh] March 3.

Meanwhile, enjoy Bobby Day’s “Little Bitty Pretty One”

True Patriot Love

It’s kind of a long story, but basically, Friday, Paco sent out a link to this story. To which I replied that yes, as a blogger I was also a terrorist, but if we could please keep that to ourselves, as I was planning on going to Canada this weekend, I would appreciate it. Theories abounded about the damage I could inflict upon Canada, with my blogging. [not very much, as it turns out], however I insisted I meant no harm to Canada, indeed, I insisted that I heart Canada! Then Evildeb and I broke into a rousing rendition of O Canada. Then Paco sent out this:

Her Royal Highness, Queen Evildeb.

That’s all, I just wanted to post the picture. I never made it up to Vancouver this weekend. but I live to try again soon.

Fair Warning

This week will be a busy week for me… I have a training project to finish up and then deliver. I am traveling down to Oregon for a couple of days as well. I’d tell you this means I won’t be around to blog much, but we all know how I work. I’ll probably be around more than ever before. Because I’m a dope that way.

However, for now, before the week truly starts, I think I will go play some sims.
